Double-Click Dictionary — Privacy Policy

Effective date: June 13, 2026

The short version

We collect nothing. We transmit nothing. Everything happens on your device.

What the extension does

Double-Click Dictionary shows definitions for words you double-click on web pages. The complete dictionary (derived from Princeton University's WordNet® 3.1) is bundled inside the extension package. Lookups are performed entirely on your computer.

Data collection

The extension does not collect, store, transmit, sell, or share any personal data, browsing history, or the words you look up. It makes no network requests of any kind: no analytics, no telemetry, no remote servers, no accounts.

Settings

Your preferences (whether the extension is enabled and which trigger you chose) are saved using Chrome's built-in storage.sync area. This data stays inside your browser profile and, if you are signed into Chrome, is synced between your devices by Google under Google's privacy policy. We have no access to it.

Permissions

The extension requests the minimum it needs: access to pages so it can react to your double-click and draw the definition popup (processed locally), and storage for the settings above.

Changes

If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new effective date.
